Nick made it back to Bloomington and is staying w/ me tonight. The baby is stable - his temp and vitals have been great all day. They are running cultures on his blood work and did a spinal puncture to get spinal fluid for another set of cultures. At this point they can tell he has an infection b/c his white blood cell count is elevated. They hope the cultures (which take a couple of days to grow) will indicate what the infection/virus/etc is exactly so they can treat him with a specific antibiotic rather than the generic 2 he is on currently.
We are hoping that I can leave tomorrow morning but Nick will be going back regardless so we hope to have another update soon.
