Weekend Activities
Two weekends ago Hannah, Gma Linda and I attended the Annual Apple 'n' Pork Festival. Linda and I have been going together the past several years and we were so excited to include Hannah this year! I think it will be a fabulous tradition for us ladies!!! The festival has amazing food (pulled pork sandwiches, ham & beans, apple fritters, apple cider, etc) and some great little vendors. I can typically get a bunch of Christmas shopping done at this event, but this year all I ended up with were a bunch of headbands and bows for Princess Hannah :o)
This past weekend we had a trip to STL. It was just the kids and I b/c we thought Nick was going to have to work. They've had a lot of extra projects going on at Cat --- Nick worked an amazing 72 hours of overtime in September.....so it ended up being good for him to have a weekend to himself anyways.
Nathan had a ball cooking with Gpa Bob and going through all the Halloween gear with Gma Kathy.
We also got to play with Timmy the Turtle while we were there. Timmy is my parents skimmer basket fixture for the pool and Nathan adores him! He was devastated to see that the pool was closed up and Timmy was no where in sight. He kept asking "where turtle?" and mumbling "turtle" the first few hours we were there my Dad finally dug Timmy out from hibernation in the shed! Nathan was so excited and kept a very close eye on him the whole weekend!
I'm sure everyone is wondering how we handled potty training on the road...well - as far as the drive there and back I am going to plead the fifth. But I am happy to report that while in STL Nathan wanted to start using the "big potty". That has opened a lot of doors for us. We made our first official public outing on Wednesday. We attended our Baby Talk class at the library and had success using their big potty. We also had 3 false alarms but that's ok. Better safe than sorry...
The past several weeks Nathan has been obsessed with a variation of peek-a-boo. He hides something behind his back or puts something over his head and asks "where go???" Then he declares "a nap!". I think this must have come from his constant inquiries on Hannah. As a newborn she took a lot of naps so for a long time Nathan asked where Hannah was and I always responded "Hannah is taking a nap". He is now applying that to his toys, Sophie when she's laying on the ground, etc. Today when Uncle Adam left our house...."where go?"....."a nap".....
His new favorite thing to do is play in the rocks next door. Our neighbor Charlie was putting down rock and stepping stones for a new walkway and Nathan just plopped down one day and started digging in the rocks like it's the playground! Luckily we are friends with Charlie and his wife Pam and they are amused with Nathan's antics. I'm sure we'll be out there again this week so I'll be sure to get some shots.
