Learning to Wait

Some might say that I'm not the most patient person they've ever met. I really think that has changed since I've had kids. As a mom I want to set a good example for Nathan and Hannah and that includes keeping a calm temper and waiting patiently in all situations.

I think the hardest part for me is waiting to help Nathan. He has become very curious and the past few days has been obsessed with buckles. The carseats, swing, bouncy seat, booster seat...everything must be buckled at all times! And he's just the man for the job. Except sometimes the buckles get turned around or he just can't make them fit together. Of course I can see what's gone wrong but I have to force myself to stay back and let him explore and learn on his own. Nathan knows several words in sign language (including help) so I keep reminding myself that he will ask for help when he needs it. Sure enough he either gets it on his own - which is very exciting - or he turns to me and asks for help. Either way we are both learning a little something.
